Last Minute Belmont Stakes Picks

Published by Katey under Uncategorized

It’s the final leg of the Triple Crown. Do you have your Belmont Picks? (AP Images)
Good morning, racing fans! All the excitement, hoof injuries and betting action has come down to today. The final jewel in the Triple Crown that may make Big Brown the biggest name in racing. If you don’t have your Belmont picks yet, don’t worry. Let Bodog Racebook’s resident expert take the reigns (pun intended) and help you with that racing form of yours.
Dave Tuley was the Daily Racing Form’s full-time Las Vegas correspondent from 2000 through May 2007 and now writes a weekly column for DRF and owns a new website called ViewFromVegas.com. Here are his Belmont Picks.
The Belmont stakes Top Contenders: Again, most people think it’s Big Brown and the rest. However, Casino Drive is also undefeated and comes in off an impressive victory in the Grade 2 Peter Pan Stakes over this same racecourse. Tale of Ekati, winner of the Wood Memorial at Aqueduct, is the only other Grade 1 winner in the field.
How the Race Will be Run: With the mile and a half distance (which none of these horses have ever run and probably will never run again), the pace will likely be pedestrian. From the No. 1 post, Big Brown might inherit the lead by default or sit right behind Casino Drive, Da’ Tara or maybe Tale of Ekati. Those should all be around at the turn for home and the leader will have to hold off closers such as Macho Again, Denis of Cork and Icabad Crane.
Dave’s Belmont Stakes Picks to Win:
Macho Again finished second to Big Brown in the Preakness, even though he never really threatened the winner. He gains the services of top jockey Garrett Gomez, who is still without a Classic victory. At 20-1 on the morning line, Macho Again should definitely outrun his odds and I give him a better-than-average chance of pulling the upset if he becomes the first to challenge Big Brown eye to eye down the stretch.

Did Another Woman Come Between Shania Twain & Husband?

Published by Cherise under Uncategorized

After 14 years of marriage, another woman may have come between Shania Twain and her husband, Robert “Mutt” Lange, several sources reportedly told People.
According to People, sources “close to the situation” claim a woman named Marie-Ann Thiebaud, a longtime secretary and manager of the couple’s chateau in Switzerland, was romantically involved with Lange.
“Mutt and Marie-Anne left their spouses for each other and are still in a relationship,” People quoted a source as saying.
However, Lange, a music producer, denies the claim.
“It’s absolutely not the reason [for the separation from Twain],” he told People in regards to the rumored affair. “It’s not true.”
Thiebauld could reportedly not be reached for comment.
When contacted by People following news of the split, the notoriously reclusive Lange said it was “an unfortunate thing” and attributed the separation from Twain to “just a growing apart, that’s all.”
Shania, 42, and Robert, 59, married on December 28, 1993. They have a six-year-old son named Eja.
Another source told People Twain, who launched herself into music superstardom with the 1997 hit “You’re Still The One,” has been left “devastated” by the split.
“This came out of left field,” the source said. “She loved him.”

2008 NBA Draft with a Twist

Published by Asia under Uncategorized

Nash over Williams? Where does age play into this decision? Nash is 34, Kobe is 30. Kobe is the best player in the world and you won’t take him in the top 3 because of his age?
All I am saying is that if age is going to be the only reason you won’t take Bryant any higher than 4, then how can you take a 34 year old over a point guard with ridiuclous upside who is already playoff tested this eary in his career?
oh and I think some might argue that Chris Paul had “the greatest season of all time as a point guard.”
I won’t argue that Kobe isn’t the best player in the world I’m just saying if I was going to build a team from the ground up I would take the 3 other guys first because they make those around them much better as the average basketball fan hadn’t hear from David West before this year and if you mentioned the name Tyson Chandler everyone just thinks of him as a bust in Chicago. I don’t disagree with your argument though just see things a little differently.
That’s cool. I was wondering this though…would you really take Nash at 34 before you would take Deron Williams at 23 (almost 24). Not only is Williams 11 years younger, but at 23, he is now playing in his 2nd playoffs. He averaged 19 ppg and 9 apg in his first playoff appearance (Nash didn’t put that up in the playoffs until his 6th season in the League).

Women Volunteers Celebrate Mother's Day Early by Building …

Published by Aline under Uncategorized

These gains don’t cause pain. A capital gain is the amount of money you pocket by selling one of your investments for more than you paid for it. Technically, capital gains only count for what’s called a capital asset, but that’s really just anything you own for investment purposes. Stocks and bonds obviously qualify, but your house and household furnishings can also count.
For tax purposes, capital gains are classified as either long-term (held for more than one year) or short-term (held for less than one year) and there are different tax implications for how long you hold onto a capital asset. For most long-term capital gains, you’re taxed no more than 15% of the value of the asset. Short-term gains get taxed as regular income, so you pay the rate for the tax bracket you’re in.
Capital gains can also be realized or unrealized. When you physically sell an asset like a stock, you’ve realized the capital gain. When you’re holding the stock, and it has a value over its purchase price, but you’re not selling it, you’ve got an unrealized gain, and you won’t realize it until you sell.
In a perfect world, we’d all have capital gains. But no one¿s that smart or lucky. When the value of an asset at sale is below what you’ve paid for it, it’s called a capital loss. The good news is that the government lets you count that loss against any gains you’ve had, lowering the taxes you pay. In fact, many people who sell a stock that has risen far over their purchase price tend to sell some stinkers, too, at the same time for the tax benefit. This is known as a capital-loss offset.

Seahawks 2008 Schedule Analysis

Published by Daniel under Uncategorized

End result? Millions of hours of productivity lost this morning as NFL fans across the globe furiously refreshed their browsers searching for any bit of leaked information until 2pm ET.
The Seattle Seahawks’ quest for a 5th consecutive NFC West title begins in Orchard Park, New York against the Buffalo Bills, who have gone 7-9 in each of the last two seasons under head coach Dick Jauron. Seattle is 6-4 lifetime against the Buffalo Bills, and will be looking to avenge the 38-9 shellacking the Bills put on the Seahawks in Qwest Field on November 28th, 2004, which remains the most lopsided defeat the Seahawks have suffered since opening Qwest Field in 2002.
Seattle opens up their 2008 home schedule with back-to-back home games against NFC West rivals San Francisco and St. Louis. Seattle swept both teams in their season series in 2007, and getting them both at home in September is an opportunity for the Seahawks to make a statement that the NFC West still belongs to them.
After a bye in Week 4, Seattle heads back to the east coast for a 10:05 a.m. PST game against the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants, who will be coming off a bye week, as well. Historically, Giants Stadium has been unkind to the Seahawks. The last time the Seahawks won in that stadium was 1983.
The retirement of Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre likely removed this year’s Packers-Seahawks game from primetime consideration. Had Favre not retired, NBC or ESPN surely would have included a Favre/Holmgren match-up on their calendar.
In 2007, Seattle made two back-to-back road trips. In each one, the second game was played further from Seattle than the first. In Week 3, the Seahawks played at San Francisco and then traveled to Pittsburgh in Week 4. Later in the season, the Seahawks played at St. Louis before traveling to Philadelphia the following week.

My 2008 NFL Mock Draft (Version 1.0)

Published by Brennan under Uncategorized

I read you packers analysis, and frankly, try smoking less crack! Ted Thompson doesn’t draft many Corners. He is more inclined to trade or sign one. The last one he drafted was in the 4th round of 2005 (will Blackmon) The packers Like Tall DBs, more specifically tall corners. Go to packers.com to see that the packers may not have a db on the upcoming 53 man roster that is under 5′11″. Flowers is 5′9″. You can’t Teach size. They are going to be drafting a nickelback not a starter. The Tandem of Woodson and Harris was just voted by Bleacher Report as the best Tandem in the NFL. This is a deep year at Corner. They can find a Tall bumb and run man nickelback in the later rounds in Lowery and Molden just to name a few off a long list. Woodson only got hurt because he was returning punts, which he will no longer do. The Safeties could use an upgrade, but nothing here will do that to a significant extent to warrant a first round pick. The best way to improve the packers would be to draft Sam Baker or Chilo Rachal, Which could be seen by Ted Thompson as the Best Player Available. The coverage is not the weakest spot as many bandwagon drafters would like to plagiarize the idea from one another. The Corners played poorly in 2 of 18 games against tall and elite receivers, both who Flowers couldn’t cover. The packers play in a divisoin loaded with tall receivers. The weakest area by far has been at the guard position, especially the the left guard spot. the running game didn’t work not because they didn’t try Grant, but becuase the interior of the line was stinkin it up. That could lead you to another radical conclusion, that the packers need depth at RB. But that could lead to the deficiency of the fullback(CONVERTED lINEBACKER) or shoty TE play (LEE can catch, but can he block?)The Linebacker coverage was a liability (they couldn’t cover TEs) but they have addressed it somewhat and probably with address it later in the draft. They may be inclined to draft a QB like Henne orBrohm. I mean QB is the position with an injury risk, and no depth(though Favre says he’ll play when A-Rod gets hurt, which he probably will)They could also use help at DE as KGB is old , and on the last year of his contract, just like Corey Williams was the previous year. Pickett held his own in his limited action at both end and Tackle, but he is getting old as well, and could be upgraded. The Offesive tackles are getting old, and Tausher may want to leave to get that one big contract. Lt is abig enough need? what about the depth at probably the biggest to an offensive line arguably the whole team? where is your analysis on that? The packers have less depth there than CB! Orin Thompson is not a future starting LT, or RT for that matter. Now that I have informed you on Packers football, feel free to investigate and articulate the facts as you find them.
