Analysts and entrail-readers agree — iPhone’s second coming …
Hints, signs and portents are starting to pile up that Apple will soon deliver unto the world the 3G iPhone that has been heralded in prophecy ever since the current model was born.
* Apple announced today that there are no more iPhones left in its U.S. and U.K. online stores. Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster says the devices are in short supply at many of the brick-and-mortar retail outlets as well. “Given the channels are running dry of the current models (8 gigabytes and 16 gigabytes), the limited availability is one of several indications that the release of a new model is imminent,” he said.
* AT&T’s product listing for the iPhone now includes a new option — “iPhone Black,” the rumored color of the 3G model. This could be highly significant accidental leak or a totally meaningless error.
* Apple has confirmed to Fortune that Steve Jobs will deliver a keynote address on June 9, the first day of Apple’s World Wide Developers conference. He just might talk about the iPhone.
Taken along with last week’s report on AT&T’s mid-June to mid-July staffing plans for its retail stores (see “AT&T troop movements hint at imminent 3G iPhone invasion“), I think we can say with high confidence that speculation will continue until the actual announcement.

wow. i can’t believe anyone cares.
The iPhone black has a much larger hard disk. It also runs faster due to a better processor. Just don’t drop it in the water, it won’t like that very much.
I hope this isn’t like Coke Blak.
Not to ruin the hype parade, but that option has been on the AT&T website since I bought my phone. (August, 2007)
Apple has to be the only company that has such an attentive following that the rumor of a new product color is a news story.
I hope it’s going to be more than just a 3G radio and a new color. Yes, 3G is nice, but if it has the same exterior hardware (albeit a new color), it’s not tempting enough for most people (who use wifi most of the time and don’t mind EDGE) with first generation iPhones to go out and buy the newer model. If they make 16GB standard and add GPS and that rumored webcam, then that’s something to splurge on. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a proud fanboy and own the current iPhone; I just want more features to justify buying another one.
Working with other companies is really messing with Apple’s “We don’t talk about future products” thing.
I think we may have mistaken it for the ccPhone. Which ATT may be calling it “Black”Take a lookhttp://www.ilounge.com/index.php/news/comments/cit …
Regarding 3G - he’s arguing that the processor speed slows down surfing more than the network, not that there’s something inherently wrong with the browser or UI.
